How To Build a Vegan Bowl

Vegan bowls are generally fairly simple, inexpensive, super healthy, and delicious! You can follow along in my Youtube video as I make a bowl and you can also scroll down to get some ideas for your own bowl! The main thing is that you want to choose your ingredients based on the type of bowl you’re building and the flavors you want.

  1. Choose a base – this will generally be a grain:
  • Rice
  • Quinoa
  • Noodles
  • We have used roasted chickpeas before too and it came out delicious

2. Choose your veggies (You can use any veggies, but these are ones we use regularly):

  • Broccoli
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Asparagus
  • Carrots
  • Zucchini
  • Spinach
  • Sweet Potato
  • Brussel Sprouts

3. Choose your protein (I labeled this as protein, but just know the base, veggies, and optional toppings here all contain good amounts of protein as well):

  • Tofu
  • Tempeh
  • Beans
  • Falafel

4. Add your sauce

We generally use my homemade sauce found in my Veggie Tofu Bowl recipe, but you can google other sauces to try or use a store bought one! You can even create your own, something we love to do! 🙂

5. Optional toppings

  • Seeds
  • Nuts
  • Guacamole
  • Olives
  • Salsa

Throw the bowl together in the order listed and you are good to go. When we make our bowls, we generally roast and season our veggies as seen in my Youtube video. We also generally use my Perfect Pan-Seared Tofu recipe.

If you choose tofu, I highly suggest using a tofu press. You can find the brand we use here: EZ Tofu Press – Removes Water from Tofu for Better Flavor and Texture.

If you try to build your own bowl, let me know! I would love to see photos and get new ideas as well.
